As Master of the Order (2001-2010), friar Carlos Aspiroz Costa O.P., reminded the whole Order of Preachers in the following words: "The Order was born as a Family. Consisting of Friars (Priests and Brothers), Nuns (Contemplative), Sisters (Apostolic), Laity (Men and Women, married and single), Dominican Clerical fraternities (Priests and Deacons), International Dominican Youth Movement - IDYM, members of secular institutes, and other groups in some manner associated with the Order, inspire us all in the charism of Dominic. This charism is one and indivisible: the grace of preaching.
The Dominican Family of the English Province in the Islands of Grenada and Jamaica consists of friars, the laity and the youth. Together, we share in the wider Dominican Family of the English Speaking Caribbean through collaboration with the Dominican Sisters of Notre Dame de la Delivrance Morne Fortune Castries (Saint Lucia ) and the Dominican family in Trinidad and Tobago which consists of the Dominican Province of the Holy Cross Irland, the Dominican Contemplative Nuns - Rosary Monastery, the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena of Etrépagny, the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters, the Dominican Priestly Fraternity, the Laity, Dominican Youth and Associates.

The Dominican shield first appeared in the early 15th century when the Order of Preachers began using this coat-of-arms for identification. The Logo of DYMG features a parted black mantel of the habit with a flag of Grenada and on the white field the Island of Grenada, these symbols of Grenada was retained for its national identity beautiful colours of Red, Green and Yellow. This coat-of-arms of the Order of Preachers helped establish our awareness as being part of the Dominican Family.

Friar Gerard Timoner III is the 88th Master of the Order and 87th successor of Saint Dominic. As Master of the Order of Preachers, he is the worldwide leader of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans.
