The Dominican Youth Ministry Mission
The Dominican Youth Ministry - Grenada, is part of the Dominican Youth Movement International. We’re the “young branch” of Dominican Family, and – as Dominican youth – we have the desire to be organized as a movement in which we’re able to grow and share the pillars of Dominican life (preaching, community, study and prayer) in our local communities, but also at national and international levels, as well as strengthening bonds with friars, nuns, lay, sisters priestly fraternities and secular institutes, with whom we share and grow constantly, by following the teachings of Jesus Christ in the way of St. Dominic and the Spirituality of the Dominican Family. Our mission, as members of the Dominican family, is preaching, especially to youth by youths.

We are hounds of the Lord like St. Dominic
Why is St Dominic the Hound of the Hounds? As legend states, while pregnant with Dominic, his mother had a dream that a dog came from her womb with a flaming torch in its mouth. She understood the dream as referring to her son Dominic, who would light the world on fire with the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. If you take this legend to be true, then it makes perfect sense because Saint Dominic and his rag-tag order of preachers most certainly set the world on fire. The fire began in the thirteenth century and it still burns to this day.
We are Youths, a group of Lay Dominicans, formed primarily for other youths who desires to be intentional disciples for Christ in the path towards sanctification, emphasizing not much separation between the world and the individual search for perfection but rather the commitment to helping others along the path of salvation, thereby building up the Kingdom of God. We give witness to this expression by living our mission inside the Order of Preachers - Dominican Family.
In many nations and in every continent, the Dominican Youth Movement offers a different avenue to discover and live the joy of the Gospel.
We are different in the way we belong to the movement, but we all value the Dominican Lifestyle. We try to keep Jesus Christ at the centre of our lives. Prayer, study, community and preaching are the pillars of our lives.
In response to the desire to bring the message of Jesus Christ to all peoples of the world especially the Youth and Young Adults, we try to use all the means and opportunities to preach God's Word. Hospitality, mercy, friendship, the search for the truth through scripture - study, community, contemplation, prayer, dialogue and mission. Our service to youth comes out of our coming together as a community for monthly meetings, reflections and study according to the values of the Gospel, using the signs of the times as a way of viewing God's presence in the world, it also helps us define our group and our method of preaching. We trust in the aid of the Holy Spirit and our faith that compels us to create a world of Justice and Peace for the poor and the uncatechized, with Faith, Hope and Love.
We want to bring a fresh, vital and vigorous presence to the Dominican Family in the Caribbean and to share in their history, tradition and legacy. With the spirit of St. Dominic, we look to the future full of joy, hope and happiness as we try to discern the movement of the Holy Spirit in our own lives.
